For Datacard 275. Topping ribbon is used in a process in which heat and pressure are used to transfer colored coating from the substrate of ribbon to the top surface of embossed characters on a card. The characters are more attractive and easier to read. An example of this process can be seen on most credit cards. The embossed or raised characters have a color applied to them.
